North Beach offers a variety of homes to suit everyone's needs. Home prices start around $175,000 and top off just above $1 million. The community can easily be accessed by Route 260, making it an easy commute to Washington, DC.
History of North BeachNorth Beach real estate was first platted in 1900. Most settlers came to North Beach as part-time residents from Baltimore and Washington DC. The town was well known for being an ideal spot to vacation. Many of Chesapeake Bay's working waterman settled in North Beach. The town saw a slight decline in population after the Bay Bridge was built and legalized gambling was stopped in 1955. Only in recent years has the community seen an incline in population. Homes have been refurbished and old buildings have been torn down.
Education in North BeachStudents in North Beach real estate are provided public education by some of the best schools in the state within the Calvert County Schools system. The fishing pier and boardwalk are a great place to start any adventure on your agenda. There is a wildlife refuge in the tidal marshlands of North Beach real estate that is home to native wildlife and some seasonal migrants.
The Bay Side History Museum, located in one of the oldest houses in town, offers a look back into the history of North Beach. The annual North Beach House and Garden Tour are great places to visit in North Beach. The tour is of eight houses, public buildings and refreshment shops. Another good annual attraction is Bayfest. It's an arts and crafts festival held each August for two days. The festival offers good food and great music for the whole family. Food vendors and craft stands are set up along Bay Avenue's seven blocks and on the Boardwalk. The highlight of the festival is the shrimp and crab fest. And, as always with any community event, it's free to have fun. There are also free summer concerts to enjoy from June through August.
 Opportunities for shopping can be found in any of the antique shops, novelty shops, gift shops, flower shops and fine art galleries. And, after working up an appetite from shopping, you will want to visit some of the area's great restaurants, cafes, bakeries, sandwich shops or hot dog stands. All restaurants and shopping areas are within walking distance from the beach, boardwalk and pier.
